Understanding how to translate creativity and hard work into a way to pay the rent isn’t easy, or straightforward. Between grand rights, performance rights, publishing contracts, grant applications and the mysterious machinations of producers and artistic directors, looking after the business of your creations is enough to make your head spin.

The Salon Concert is an evening reminiscent of those days in the ‘20’s and ‘30’s when composers and their stars performed for small groups of friends in a private surrounding. After two sold-out Salon Concerts last season, Acting Up Stage Company is delighted to present another intimate concert experience. This edition of the Salon Concert features the extraordinary Jeff Madden – the Dora Award-winning Frankie Valli from Toronto’s Jersey Boys. One of the most gifted performers in the city, Jeff has performed at the Shaw Festival, the National Ballet of Canada, the National Arts Centre and the Charlottetown Festival . The Salon will take place in the beautiful Beach home of John & Patti Loach. As profiled in The Globe and Mail and The National Post, the Loach residence – boasting a Steinway grand piano and a state of the art recording studio – will provide a unique setting for this intimate concert.
