The Wild Party wins at the Doras!

Once again, the Toronto theatre, dance, and opera community gathered to celebrate all the great work made over the past year at the annual Dora Mavor Moore Awards!

We had a whopping 8 nominations (!) in the Musical Theatre Division for our production of The Wild Party this past winter and were lucky enough to see two of our colleagues walk up on stage and give their thanks. Watch the speeches from actor Daren A. Herbert and choreography Stephanie Graham below! More

My Wild Party Experience in New York City

Unionville High School had a tradition – every year the Grade 10 Drama Students would go on a trip New York City in May. So, in early May of 2000, I boarded the bus to the Big Apple.

We departed early Monday morning and pulled up to the Skyline Hotel at West 49th St and 10th Ave. around 7 p.m.; it was four students to a room. We spent that first night wandering around Times Square; candy stores, Toys-R-Us and neon lights. I don’t really remember what we did during the days (Central Park, the Metropolitan Museum, Harlem… it’s all kind of a blur) because the real reason I went on the trip was to go see Broadway musicals. Morro and Jasp: In Defence of Harmless Clowns Everywhere

Beloved Toronto clown duo Morro & Jasp routinely spread joy and fun around the city with their adventures and antics in cooking, literature, puberty and more. The following is a response from Morro & Jasp regarding a recent story about the rise of “evil clowns.” More

An Evening with Michael John LaChiusa & Sheridan College

When a musical theatre legend comes to town to see a production of his own show, he must be celebrated! And we were so thrilled to be able to do so for Michael John LaChiusa – composer and lyricist of The Wild Party. LaChiusa arrived in Toronto over the weekend and attended two performances of The Wild Party, facilitated a workshop with this year’s Banks Prize winners and our RBC Apprentice Program performers, and wowed an audience of patrons* and donors with an exclusive Q&A (hosted by Mitchell Marcus), featuring performances from music theatre students at Sheridan College.  More
