A star-studded Evening With Acting Up Stage Company is profiled in Toronto Life

On October 3, Kate Alexander Daniels and David Daniels opened the doors of their contemporary Casa Loma residence to an intimate crowd of 200 guests for an evening dedicated to Acting Up Stage Company.

Among the crowd were Sex and the City’s Kim Cattrall (in town for Private Lives), director Norman Jewison, Barbara Amiel, actor Don McKellar and musical guests Arlene Duncan (Little Mosque on the Prairie), Marcus Nance and Bruce Dow.

Toronto Life was onsite profiling the event, and they have featured some exquisite shots on their website that capture this very special evening.

New York Magazine deems Caroline, or Change one of the best musicals of all-time!

In December 2010, the New York Magazine sat down with five Broadway experts to determine “The Greatest Musical” of all-time. They successfully got the list down to 23 candidates and then proceeded to discuss the merits of each piece. While they never arrived at a single winning-show, the discussion is very interesting to read.

Most significantly, the only musical of the 21st century that was on their short-list for “The Greatest Musical” of all-time was Caroline, or Change. Read the article here »

The Salon Concert is an evening reminiscent of those days in the ‘20’s and ‘30’s when composers and their stars performed for small groups of friends in a private surrounding. After two sold-out Salon Concerts last season, Acting Up Stage Company is delighted to present another intimate concert experience.This edition of the Salon Concert features the extraordinary Jeff Madden – the Dora Award-winning Frankie Valli from Toronto’s Jersey Boys. One of the most gifted performers in the city, Jeff has performed at the Shaw Festival, the National Ballet of Canada, the National Arts Centre and the Charlottetown Festival . The Salon will take place in the beautiful Beach home of John & Patti Loach. As profiled in The Globe and Mail and The National Post, the Loach residence – boasting a Steinway grand piano and a state of the art recording studio – will provide a unique setting for this intimate concert.
